Journal Entry Chapter 3:

I always had mixed feelings about standardized testing when I was younger. It would make me really nervous to take tests because I never wanted to do poorly so that always motivated me to do my best but it also stressed me out a lot during the test taking because I would always doubt my answers and that made me take more time on each question. When I was younger, my test taking abilities weren't always a strength of mine and even today sometimes I struggle with that but I would like to say that I've progressed myself in being a better test taker. There was never really a particular test that I enjoyed taking, but the English portion was one that I always did the best in. I've always enjoyed writing since I was young, so I did like to do the writing portion at the end of standardized testings because writing was always enjoyable to me. When the Pandemic started, I was super nervous because our school went completely online during that time and I have never been good at working technology on the computer so it took a lot of time for me to navigate that. During that time, I learned how to be more independent in my studies and take more time to complete my schoolwork. I honestly feel like the Pandemic took a lot of time away from my learning though because that was a period where both teachers and students were having to make a tough transition within education so it was really a learning experience on both ends. A few of my teachers would give us "busy work" to complete online but other teachers did do well at providing us notes on lessons that we could download and complete and submitting videos of their lessons online for us to watch so that we could learn more about the work that we were doing. Overall, it was a tough experience being away from my classmates and not having that in-person time in my classes but also really helped me become more independent and that is a strength that I've been able to take with me now being in college, especially being a majority online student. I work a full-time job while also being a full-time college student, so I look back on the Pandemic as a learning experience that's given me strengths and strategies to be an online learner.
