Journal Entry Chapter 7:

Educators have many responsibilities when it comes to helping students navigate information online. Educators need to support students in learning about research online and how to use their research skills. They also need to teach them to be aware of risks online whether that be protecting their privacy, cyberbullying, and having the knowledge about avoiding online scams. Alongside of these, educators also need to teach students how to check the credibility of online sources so that the student isn't misinformed on topics or subjects.

This matters more than ever due to a variety of reasons. For starters, there are many biased opinions online that ultimately is considered misinformation and students need to be educated on that while doing research and presenting said research. Another reason that plays into this is due to how cyberbullying is so common in todays world and it's important that students understand that and learn ways on how to avoid or reduce the chances of that happening to them. It's also important because learning how to engage professionally and responsibility online is a tool that can help students within their academic success, especially when they have to cite sources and present information that they research.
